    The Paretz Post Mill
In 1375, a mill in Paretz was first mentioned in the yearbook of Emperor Charles IV. During the redevelopment of Paretz by King Frederick William III and Queen Louise of Prussia, the mill was moved to its current location. It burned down in 1893.

In the same year, miller Otto Grünefeld had the Etzin mill demolished and rebuilt in Paretz. In 1924, the mill was equipped with an electric motor.

As late as 1943, the film "The Magic Violin," among others, was filmed here.

In the 1940s, the last mill tenant, Fräsdorf, built a 3-meter-high, functioning post mill. This mill now stands in Langerwisch near Potsdam,
next to a paltrock mill. The sails of the large Paretz mill turned until 1948.

A strong gust of wind put an end to this. From then on, the mill was maintained for another 10 years with an electric motor. Then a period of decline began.

In 1978, the journeyman locksmith Schwetzke from Teltow began rebuilding the ruins.

First, the chaos was cleared away, then the roof truss and roof were completely replaced.

This was followed by several years of self-initiative, which involved collecting lumber.

With the help of millwright Zecher and friends, the outer shell was renewed over five years and several weeks of vacation were used to repair structural work, replace the stern and lugs, install new windows, and overhaul the massive substructure. In 1990, new sails were built and installed.

Unfortunately, the mill is hampered by a 100-year-old tree-lined avenue to the west and by other trees, resulting in less and more turbulent wind.
