Klusbrücke

A beautiful old place that still feels wonderfully convivial if you get the hang of it and use a little imagination.
For many centuries, the Klusklause stood here, which welcomed and fed pilgrims, travellers, soldiers, princes,... and collected the toll for using the former Klusdamm over the formerly damp Elbe meadows to Magdeburg.

The Klusbrücke is the only existing old bridge to and from Magdeburg over the Elbe meadows. Otherwise, without the Klusdamm and Klusbrücke, the Elbe meadows would often have been impassable due to flooding. This is how the old military, postal and trade routes came about here in the Middle Ages. The Klusbrücke is crooked and crooked and quite wonderful and in its own way.
