A beautiful, airy square, surrounded by mansions with magnificent facades and the two imposing churches of St. Vitus and the Jesuit Church (now the Evangelical Parish Church) as well as impressive official buildings, forms the center of the large district town of Ellwangen.

The marketplace is the spiritual center of Ellwangen. The architectural highlight is the Basilica of St. Vitus and the Protestant town church. Around the market place are canonical houses with magnificent facades. The weekly market takes place on the square on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
