The Sandhauser Dünen are two nature reserves in the area of the municipality of Sandhausen in the Rhein-Neckar district: the Sandhauser Dünen horse drive and the Sandhauser Düne, maintenance Schönau-Galgenbuckel.These are inland dunes of the type commonly found in the northern Upper Rhine plain. They are characterized by a flora and fauna rarely found in Germany: Plants and animals specially adapted to heat, lack of water and lack of nutrients, which are otherwise found in the steppes of Eastern Europe or in the Mediterranean region. Very beautiful sand dunes with a great, natural forest. It is annoying that you obviously cannot imagine that somebody comes on foot! Either you have to climb over the guardrails or take a detour of hundreds of meters (half of it along the road)!

It is easy to pass the paths that lead up to the sand dune, without getting something from them. So look up and then up the paths a few feet. The world is different there, it's worth it.
On a sign says that the country dune horse drive is called.
