The current renaissance castle Brenz, in Sontheim / Brenz, was originally built from the residential building of a knight's castle. This, so-called Pallas, survived the 30-year war essentially unscathed.
The original castle was first mentioned in 1340 when it was destroyed by the Augsburgers. Reason for the destruction was the activity of the then owners, the Giessen, as robber barons. After the castle was in 1613 in the possession of the Duke of Württemberg and 1727-1731 by the mistress of the Duke Eberhard Ludwig, the "Grävenitz" was inhabited, bought the community Brenz in 1847, the building to use it as a school and town hall , Since 1906 a local history museum has been set up in the castle.
