Until 1785 Eichenzell belonged to the parish Florenberg. On special holidays or for certain pilgrimages, the Eichenzeller then went to the Florenberg to the church.
Despite the long journey, the Eichenzeller were always the first. Much to the annoyance of the other pilgrims from the neighboring villages. By the time the others arrived on the mountain, the Eichenzeller had usually already bought up all the holiday "Weck". Since there was usually weekdays only the weeks before baked bread, was the "holiday alarm" already a much-eaten change. Annoyed that the Eichenzeller had already bought them everything, the neighboring communities described it as "Eichenzeller Weckfresser". And this name has remained to this day.
