      The oldest evidence of the Zug pilgrimage to Einsiedeln dates from July 31, 1426. It stipulates that it is the duty of the parish priest of Zug to lead a procession to Einsiedeln every year on Ascension Day. This tradition has existed since ancient times. As early as 1479, there is a reference to a chapel at the highest point of the pilgrimage route from Zug to Einsiedeln.
      The present chapel, at the highest point of the pilgrimage route from the Ägeri Valley to Einsiedeln, was consecrated in 1654. On the altar stands a copy of the miraculous image of the Einsiedeln Madonna.
