The peat, which was peat-covered in large areas, used to be run through by a deep drainage ditch. After this had been piped and sealed, large areas of birch quarry forest in its vicinity died as a result of waterlogging. Thereafter, in 1983, for the rewetting in the south of the area, earth walls were built over a length of more than 2600 m and foils were drawn in to the water-impermeable basic moraine at a depth of six meters
