On August 20, 1839, Duke Wilhelm of Nassau died. His son Adolf inherited the principality and succeeded his father as Duke Adolf of Nassau.
In honor of the new duke, the then mayor of Dreisbach (the term for mayor at the time), Johann Groß, had the Duke Adolf Linden planted, which turned exactly 150 years old in 1989 and had already outlived the Duchy of Nassau by 123 years.
The chronicle of the Dreisbach community shows that the beautiful tree was in excellent health in the 1980s.
