Hiking
The location of South Jutland as a border region makes this part of the country something special, not least in the light of history. After reunification in 1920 the border and shipping were monitored by the border gendarmes. The patrols took place on foot along the coast and each gendarme had to check a specific section of the border.

The Gendarmenpfad is an approximately 74 km long hiking trail in southern Denmark and mostly leads along the coast from Flensburg to far behind Sonderburg.
