The St. John's Church is considered to be Kitzingen's oldest surviving building and surprises with astounding wealth of details from all the epochs of the past 600 years. Particularly noteworthy is the Vleugels organ from 1996, not only because of their sonority; the color scheme of the prospectus corresponded to the altarpiece by Jacques Gassmann by the same artist. The Rückpositiv is held by a column in the "walled man". Somehow spooky! The popular Kitzinger tour guide "Uncle Hans" wants to have learned from the organ builder himself the background: Organ builders would always have to consider many special requests of the client and would have to deal after completion of the work often with nearly as many complaints. To prevent this, he would have left one of his workers there, so that the people who complain about the new organ, kick the same 😀
