Best Hikes to Hohe Düne Viewpoint

Tips

  • The Hohe Düne is located just north of Pramort. This is the largest unforested dune field, up to 12 meters high, on the German Baltic Sea coast. There is a viewing platform there that offers a wonderful view of the Baltic Sea as well as the dune and lagoon landscape and from which you can watch seabirds and wading birds breeding and, when visibility is good, you can see as far as Hiddensee.

  • One of the most beautiful places on the entire Baltic Sea coast! Located in the core zone of the national park and only accessible on foot, even cycling is prohibited. We were there early around 10 a.m. and alone in the wonderful weather, but on the way back we were met by numerous hikers - it's worth getting there early! The quickest way is: to the car park at the Sundischen Wiese by car, rent a bike there (quick and easy), cycle 10 km and walk the last 2.5 km.

  • At 13 meters high, the Hohe Düne is the highest white dune massif of the German Baltic Sea coast. Although the beach is close to it, nature is protected and therefore not accessible for swimming.
