Lime mortar was needed wherever buildings were not only made of wood, clay or dry stone walls, but also of connected masonry. Lime was also used for plastering and whitening the facades, for fertilizing and for many other areas. To do this, limestone had to be processed in special kilns.

The lime kiln in Neckarburken offers interesting insights into lime production in earlier times. There is a circular route, the KALKOFENWEG, which also leads to the lime kiln in Dallau.
