Climbing up to Capanna Mara from Alpe del Vicerè is a simple walk and is mainly suitable for families with small children; a walk that is not at all physically demanding.
We reach Alpe Vicerè from the town of Albavilla, near Erba, via a fairly wide asphalt road of about 9 km, until we reach the Alpe where we will find free parking just before the entrance to the Alpe campsite.
Once we have parked the car in the designated spaces, we will follow the asphalt road that continues to the right of the campsite and that will take us in about 10 minutes to the Cacciatori refuge, where the asphalted and car-accessible section ends.
From the refuge, a cemented carriage road starts that with always slight slopes will take us to Capanna Mara alternating sections with slight slopes almost zero to sections where only for a few meters the slopes become quite challenging
