A bit of technical history from the time of the Kaiser: Here the bed of the canal runs in a bridge (like in a bathtub; o)) over the Ems. So the ships cross the much deeper riverbed of the Ems. There is an old overpass from the time Kaiser Wilhelm II, a newer, which is currently in operation and now there is a third bridge under construction, which will soon replace the "second" bridge after completion. To the old sewer overpass (old drive) belongs still the old, drained, trough as well as a riveted Sperrtor. The trough bridge alone, made of sandstone Ibbenbüren, is worth seeing. A unique architectural monument from the Wilhelminian era.
On the left and right side of the canal, you can cycle on a smooth stretch through the Münsterland park landscape and enjoy the surroundings. Tip: look out for one of the many farm cafés.

It can be a rock on the head - the bridge is dilapidated, but it looks beautiful!
Attention! Near the bridge is a nude swimming area. We only saw men there. Good that we were two!
