The castle is located on a granite rock, which is surrounded on the west side by the Schwarzach river. Access is via a ramp that runs along the southeast side of the ring wall. The simple gate is covered by a semicircular wall tower on the south corner. At the top you reach a courtyard, at the north end of which the foundations of another wall tower in front of the ring wall can be seen. On the right is the well-preserved chapel from the 17th century. A separate keep was obviously not built, which is not unusual given the late construction of the complex.
