The Belmer execution site is an inconspicuous but eerie memorial that was erected decades ago: three people were executed here in the mid-19th century. Several thousand viewers took part in the macabre spectacle. Since there were even riots, the other executions were carried out in the courtyard of the Osnabrück prison.
