Bike Touring Highlight
The Raßnitzer lake originated from a residual hole of the open pit mine. Where once brown coal was mined, today is a beautiful lake, on the banks of which nature is spreading more and more. Since this year, swimming at the lake is now also allowed. Buoys and signage will probably be installed in winter for the 2019 swimming season.

The Raßnitzer lake is located east of Wallendorfer See, both lakes are between Merseburg and Leipzig. On the northern side you can reach it via Luppedamm and Elsterradweg. From there you can reach the observation tower, where you have a view over much of the lake. At Raßnitz is a natural beach, where locals go swimming in the summer.
On the southern side are small romantic bays, where bathing is also possible. Who cycled around the Raßnitzer lake, surrounds best with the Wallendorfer lake. On the southern side of Lake Wallendorf you have access to the village of Wallendorf, where you can enjoy delicious food and drinks at the wine cellar or Radler-Treff.weinkeller-wallendorf.de
