The building looks much younger than most of the monasteries.

The monastery garden with the miraculous image belonging to the Maria Lind pilgrimage church offers a place of silence where you can draw new energy.

The Maria Lind pilgrimage site in Braunsrath goes back to the discovery of a statue of the Virgin Mary in the 17th century. In 1982 the Capuchins left the monastery.

At the request of the then Aachen Bishop Klaus Hemmerle, Poor Clare sisters from Westphalia moved to Maria Lind in 1985. The monastery church was added to the pilgrimage chapel and the monastery was rebuilt.

The Order of the Poor Sisters was founded by St. Francis and St. Clare of Assisi. In 1215, Clare won a poverty privilege from Pope Innocent III. with the assurance that no one should force them to accept ownership. The order consists of autonomous monasteries worldwide that are not centrally managed. Influenced by the spirituality of St. Clare, the communities live a contemplative life in poverty.
