Again, a section on the few cars drive, but you can have a lot of fun with the road bike.
For the tour rider a relaxed walk along the Werra.

      A very nice bike path

Lauchröden is located in the west of the Wartburg district and has around 900 inhabitants. Since March 16, 2004, the place has belonged to the Gerstungen community. The name Lauchröden is made up of the words "Luch" and "Ried" and thus describes the location of the place in the marshy, floodplain areas of the estuary area of the Elte and Werra.
The bike path along the K505 is very well developed and is in top condition.
From 1952 to 1990, Lauchröden was in the 500 m wide protective strip of the restricted area of the inner-German border and was therefore inaccessible to the GDR population outside the border area. It was not until 1989 that a bridge was rebuilt over the Werra.
There was a road connection to Herleshausen until 1945, which was interrupted with the destruction of the Werra Bridge at the end of the Second World War and the subsequent division of Germany. The replacement structure erected in 1997 is only open to pedestrians, cyclists and emergency vehicles.
