In the Vaihingen/Enz concentration camp,
between August 1944 and April 1945, approximately 1,700 people fell victim to the Nazi terror regime due to inhumane, degrading, and horrific working and living conditions.
Initially a labor camp, later an infirmary, organizationally subordinate to the Natzweiler concentration camp in Alsace, it housed approximately 5,000 prisoners from over 20 nations across Europe, who were subjected to "extermination through labor" or left to suffer from severe illnesses, inadequate hygiene, and completely insufficient care.
