Extensive ruins of a large castle complex, which extend about 400 meters north of Semione on a rocky ridge. A first weir was built here around 900 and was changed several times in the high Middle Ages. In 1176 Emperor Frederick I Barbarossa besieged the castle and gave it to a henchman, but soon after the Battle of Legnano it was attacked by its Milanese opponents and razed to the ground. The visible today plant was built from 1220 and was the residence and court of Milanese governors. In 1402 Serravalle was re-conquered by unknown troops and destroyed with the exception of the castle church.
