Holzminden District Court

Holzminden would have had reason to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the local court in 2000, because in the Duchy of Braunschweig the law on the court constitution of August 21, 1849 - in force since July 1, 1850 - determined the establishment of local courts. The 50s of the last century were also important for the Holzminden district court, as a new building was realized on Karlstrasse for the building of a former soap factory, which at that time housed the district court, which still shapes the townscape of Holzminden decisively today; built of white sandstone.

Image rights: ag-holAlready 20 years later, the building was given its shape, which is still unchanged today, with two extensions: the Courts Constitution Act, in force since 1879, regulates the district court / regional court and, due to the long distance from Braunschweig Holzminden, made it the seat of a regional court.
