It is one of the largest flysch landslide lakes in the Polish Carpathians. It is located in Szymbark, on the slope of Maślana Góra, on the border between the Low Beskids and the Carpathian Foothills. It was created in a landslide niche of the largest landslide in the Polish Carpathians - the so-called Szklarki landslides. The landslide was created in 1784 and was renovated in 1913. At that time, a small lake with dimensions of about 50 x 20 meters was created. The last major landslides of rock material took place in 1974. A huge niche of landslides and a huge tongue are visible here, which is overgrown with trees, but not quite stable. The lake is located in the immediate vicinity of the Jelenia Góra nature reserve.

In the summer, the lake dries out partially or completely and finding it was difficult until recently. To make it easier for tourists, a black marked walking path has been marked out.
