Quick Facts
Description
The Roman Catholic Church was built between 1889 and 1891 to a design by architect Carl Weber. Weber inspired the church at the Munsterkerk in Roermond. It is a large neo-Romanesque crucifix with towers and an eight-sided dome. That tall dome, which is strictly speaking a celebration tower, dominates the prestige of the church with its building volume. The towers at the front are 71 meters high and are crowned by an octagonal peak between four top façades. The church has a closed choir and transepts. In addition to the dome, two stair towers have been added on both sides. The interior of the church is executed in different colors of brick. Above the enormous crossing is the dome vault that has an internal height of 40 meters. The church is one of Weber's most important works and is used to date by the Brigidaparochie in Geldrop.
