"The Cheile Tătarului is a natural reserve, in the Gutâi Mountains, located on the territory of Mara village, Desești commune, in Maramureș county. This tourist attraction was included in the -III- category of the National Union of Nature Conservation. The Cheile Tătarului stretch on an area of 15 hectares and the gorges themselves are 700 meters high. They represent a gorge, formed by Igniș-Mara, in pyroxenic andesites. The two slopes are different, one being covered by forests and the other, rocky and vertical.
