Since the summer months of 1886, events had raged. Bavaria had fallen into a state of complete paralysis. The rumors that the king was murdered on the shores of Lake Starnberg near Berg did not stop him. There was still no memorial to the departed monarch who was worshiped and loved by the Bavarian people. Only in 1887, a year after his death, did the mother of Louis, Queen Marie, erect a lamp for the dead above the place where he breathed his life. Lonely, her light shone out on Lake Starnberg, so beloved by Ludwig. But was this a worthy monument to a fairy tale king?

Nice location and great view of the lake. It's best to drive around at the top.
