Best in swimming trunks and without valuables / denied with waterproof bags. Only after about 1km comes an ad with the highest water level of the hike. On a fairly windy day we had a maximum of 1.10m (about belly-navel high for a 1.80m-person) and are therefore the other way around. Trekking sandals and / or water shoes are recommended, as the surface is sometimes extremely muddy and stony. But otherwise a great adventure!

The idea of hiking through the middle of the Baltic Sea to an island sounds pretty tempting, doesn't it? But you need to be careful here. First of all, it's advisable to wear light clothing like swimming trunks - and valuables should either be packed in waterproof bags or better left at home. On my hike, I came across water that was almost 1 meter deep on a windy day. When the sea is so rough, it can quickly become a challenge. The first few kilometers are still quite relaxed, but then the indicator for the highest water level appears. It's worth checking the wind and tides in advance. The ground is not easy: sometimes muddy, sometimes rocky. Trekking sandals or water shoes are therefore a must to get through the adventure safely. But the feeling of hiking between the waves is unique and will definitely stay in your memory. A real little adventure on the way to an island in the Baltic Sea!
