From 1718 to 1723 the town hall was rebuilt with the current façade in the Renaissance style and inaugurated in 1723. Documents found in the tower head revealed that the city was dirt poor at the time and that the construction was financed through alms. During renovation work in 2002, it was discovered that the regional heather was used as insulation material and that it was therefore a “cheap building”.
