There are numerous chapels in the Tegernsee mountains, for example on Wallberg and Riederstein. The chapel on the Neureuth is the youngest member - it was inaugurated in 1976. The building was initiated by the Tegernsee Franz Kiening, who ran the inn from 1965 to 1989. He thought that the former mountain cross should be replaced by a proper chapel. For more than 40 years it has stood behind a wooden fence to protect it from grazing cattle. Its whitewashed brickwork, shingle roof and small bell tower catch the eye. On the balcony under the awning it says: “To the thoughts of those who fell in both world wars”. The former Lüftlmaler Anton Keck conjured up the patron saint of Bavaria over the green-framed entrance door.
