Piazza Paolo Diacono - The heart of Cividale.

On the left there is a house from the 15th century. on which traces of frescoes can still be seen, including the coat of arms of Cividale, as well as pointed arched windows. It once belonged to the family of Paolo Diacono, Lombard historian who told about his people. In front of the house there is a fountain with an 18th century sculpture depicting the hunting goddess Diana (1803).

To the right of the fountain you can see a floor slab that points to the place where the grave of Lombard Count Gisulfo was found in 1874. This is now on display in the Museo Archeologico Nazionale (Piazza del Duomo). The piazza is surrounded by other magnificent palazzi.
