Mountain Biking Highlight
The Sophienalpe (477 m above sea level) is an alpine pasture in the west of Vienna and a popular excursion destination. It is named after Archduchess Sophie, the mother of Emperor Franz Joseph, who often spent the summer here. The Sophienalpe can be reached via numerous hiking trails, the Sophienalpenstrasse and the Exelberg.

This downhill leads from the Sophienalpe down to the Rieglerhütte. At first a bit steep and technically not too demanding, but very funny to drive, as there are small drops in the first half of the trail and at high speed they make a small jump. The second half of the downhill is then quite steep, which would not be a problem if not everywhere pointed, loose boulders would form the bottom. The trail ground here shakes you really through and the bike is difficult to control at higher speeds. Then there are ankle-high larger stones which one must avoid. Very fun DH which is quite demanding (but speed dependent).
