Among the sights of the small town of Wiesmoor, the peat and settlement museum with its originally rebuilt houses from the period of moor colonization from the end of the 18th to the beginning of the 20th century is a real gem. In a beautiful location, the spacious grounds offer an insight into life here around 200 years ago.

It offers its visitors insights into the hard life and work of the first Wiesmoor settlers in the period of moor colonization from 1780 to the time of reclamation from 1906.

The entire property was initiated and funded by the former municipality and current town of Wiesmoor and the association for the preservation of the moorland heritage.
The museum is looked after by the association in cooperation with the climatic health resort Wiesmoor Touristik GmbH. The association has set itself the task of making the moor colonization from 1780 to the reclamation of the Wiesmoor from 1906 tangible. This should also give an impression of the history of this place.
