Great, quiet racetrack, bolt upright. Road conditions (07/2021) grade 2 to 3, sometimes quite rough.
I recommend, however, not to go on a cut, but to enjoy the swans, ducks, other birds, as well as the ships that may be seen.

The canal in front of the Kembs power station, together with the Altrhein just to the east of it, separates a fairly large island in the middle of the Rhine. The island itself is a nature reserve with the exception of the power plant and lock building and the well paved lane on the island along the canal. So if you dare to get to the island via the weir in the south or the power plant and the lock in the north, you will not only be rewarded with a nice straight stretch (caution: can look like a pass road with a few percent incline if there is a headwind), but also and before all with a beautiful natural landscape. So if you are looking for the fastest possible way to cross the Rhine, you will not find it here because of the longer section in the middle of the Rhine, but that is probably the appeal of this beautiful alternative.
