Bludenz was promoted to town in 1260. In the 14th century the parish church of St. Laurentius was built on the plateau des Montikels. In 1491 it was almost entirely a victim of a city fire. The reconstruction was completed in 1514. In 1720 the St. Laurentius Church received its beautiful altars made of black marble.
