Unfortunately, the quarry ponds - like almost everywhere on the Lower Rhine - are closed to people who want a refreshing swim. Other federal states such as Brandenburg and Baden Württemberg show that there is also another way. There they have to remain accessible from a certain size in accordance with the law. And so so far the only thing left at many quarry ponds in North Rhine-Westphalia is to brave swimming and the quality of life associated with it over fences. Too bad.
