Monastery BentlageIn the midst of a landscape protection area lies on the Ems the former Kreuzherrenkloster Bentlage. Founded in 1437, the monastery was converted from 1803 to the nobility and is now owned by the city of Rheine. After careful restoration, the listed complex is now a cultural center, museum, refuge in the countryside and a popular destination for guests from near and far.

That was my running route when I was a teen. From the Jacobikrankenhaus along the Ems to the Bentlage monastery and then back. It's a nice run. But I don't know how much I always ran back then, because there weren't any great timepieces like Garmin or Polar. 😁
