The pyramid-shaped elevation between the two cuts Engelberger Lücke (towards Wissigstock) and Rot Grätli (towards Ruchstock) can be climbed as a pathless alpine hike. In winter, it is possible to climb it on skis. To the west of the Engelberger Rotstock lies the Schöntaler Firn, to the east the Schlossfirn.
