Goedereede was parsed as an independent parish in 1450 by Ouddorp. Before the construction of the Catharinakerk there was a chapel with an unknown patrocinium elsewhere, which fell victim to the city fire of 1482.
The new parish church was built in 1453 initially as a single-nave building with 5/8 choir. 1467 began with the construction of the massive west tower. The nave was added in 1479, a northern aisle, which at the height of the choir east of a sacristy or possibly a side chapel joined. In 1512 the tower was completed (Wikipedia).
