The Ilmtalviadukt (or viaduct Stadtilm) is a single-track railway bridge of the railway line Arnstadt-Saalfeld in Thuringia.
On 1 May 1888, the Prussian Chamber of Deputies decided to build the Arnstadt-Saalfeld railway line. The laying of the foundation stone of the viaduct took place on 3 December 1891. The company Mestwarb & Greiner from Hanover was awarded the contract for the masonry construction. The construction period was approximately one and a half years, namely until June 28, 1893. The final stone was laid in the presence of the princely couple of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt and other guests of honor. From 1 April 1894 the tracks were moved on the viaduct. It was opened to traffic on 18 June of the same year.
With a total length of 201.3 meters, a height of 18 meters and a total of 13 arches, the viaduct was considered one of the largest railway bridges of its time (Wikipedia).
