Anklamer Torfmoor Nature Reserve

A fantastic habitat for fauna and flora. Migratory bird flocks, in particular, benefit from the abundance of food during their regular migrations between their breeding grounds and winter quarters. Hopefully, this piece of nature will remain intact.

Fortunately, all efforts made in the past to drain the Anklamer peat bog have failed. Cyclists on the Berlin-Usedom cycle path can enjoy the impressive landscape even in cloudy weather.

Until the end of the 17th century there were open pasture forests here. Peat was mined for a few years in the mid-19th century - now a natural paradise.
The condition of the path on some sections, especially between Bugewitz and Anklam, leaves a lot to be desired, but you will be rewarded with great views.
