A large beach has developed in this valley, protected on both sides by rocky headlands.
The beautiful place is on top of the rock to the north of the beach.
Prima das Macăs may seem small, but it still offers a unique Portuguese atmosphere with numerous cafés, restaurants and bars.

The city has long been famous for its beach. A small tram has been winding its way through the picturesque town in the Sintra hills for around 100 years.

In summer, the large beach is very busy and many sports are practiced, and the strong sea waves are ideal for surfing. Most visitors to Praia das Maçãs are local residents or families who have their holiday homes here.

During the summer months, the beach can also be reached directly from the town of Sintra by taking the traditional, picturesque tram that runs along the recently revived route.
