Nestled in picturesque mixed forest, which extends on beautiful hills, lies the lead-hole reservoir. A dream for every cyclist, because around the lake there are many beautiful bike paths that run through the forest and along the shore. In summer, the lake offers many bathing options on free beaches or in natural pools - ideal to refresh yourself on hot days.

The resulting lead hole reservoir has the largest volume of all reservoirs in Germany. The dam and reservoir are named after the lead holes that were there before the accumulation and in which lead was mined. The dam is one of the historic landmarks of civil engineering in Germany, as designated by the Federal Chamber of Engineers (Wikipedia).

Largest reservoir in Germany in a beautiful landscape. There are many cycling and hiking trails. The newest bike path from Gräfenwarth to the barrier wall was only recently opened. The cycle path from Schleiz to Saalburg along the old railway line has been around for a few years.
It is recommended e.g. also to take the bike on board the "Gera" and, if necessary, to continue the bike tour (or hike) elsewhere. At the moment, I don't know whether the smaller ships also take bicycles.
It's a shame that the jetty on the barrier wall no longer exists ...
