Stiff climb with beautiful nature. Does it ...

The Steenberg is a slope in the Flemish Ardennes on the territory of Sint-Kornelis-Horebeke, between the village centers of Schorisse and Zegelsem, in the Belgian province of East Flanders.

In cycling, the slope has been included 9 times (up to and including 2006) in the Tour of Flanders 1979 → 1982, 1997, 2003 → 2006. During the climb, the Burreken nature park is visible on the right. The climb starts approximately at the foot of the Ganzenberg. The top is only 2.5 km from the top of Het Foreest.

In view of the fact that no major achievements could ever be reported on the Het Foreest - Steenberg route in the Ronde, the organization decided to scrap this part in 2007 and to immediately visit the Haaghoek and the adjacent Leberg after the Boigneberg.

The slope was situated in the 1979 Tour between Volkegemberg and the Wall, in 1980-1982 between Varentberg and Pijpketel. In 1997 it was situated between Taaienberg and Berendries. After that, it was continuously situated between Het Foreest and the Leberg in the period 2003-2006.
