    Mainz Gate / Spitzer Turm (1379) - Miltenberg 🚴‍♂️

The Mainz Gate (Spitzer Turm) is a late medieval gate tower on the western edge of Miltenberg's old town, first mentioned in 1379, and at that time was the town's westernmost boundary point. Above the gate passage is the coat of arms of Archbishop Adolf I of Nassau of Mainz, during whose reign (1371–1390) the mighty tower was built. In the year of its construction, the town of Miltenberg stretched 2.5 kilometers between the western (Mainz Gate) and eastern (Würzburg Gate) gate towers. 🚴‍♂️

      Very impressive.
You can find it at the end of Mil towards Großheubach.

        Addition to "Germane":
Due to the new building of the neighboring museum depot, city archive and youth center, which opened in May 2019, the Mainzer Tor can be entered from an elevated level via a footbridge and experienced as a historic city entrance.
