The Hansenburg Castle is located near Lednice Castle, on the left bank of the River Thaya and offers pedestrians and cyclists a good recreational opportunity.

The history of Johannesburg or Hansenburg - in Czech: Januv Hrad
Johannesburg is part of the Lednice-Valtice area. It covers an area of 2200 hectares. In December 1996, the area was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List as a cultural landscape.
The Johannesburg stands on the site of a hunting ground and is surrounded on three sides by the river Thaya. It served as a hunting lodge - the nobles gathered there before the hunt. After the hunt, a rich festival took place here, which the king had called for. The building was reserved as a residence for the royal gamekeepers.
The building was designed by Joseph Hardtmuth and Joseph I. Prince Alois von Liechtenstein started building Johannesburg in 1801, but he died in 1805 and his brother, three years younger - Johannes I. Joseph Fürst von Liechtenstein finished the building project.
