Fort Munide is located on the northern side of Pula Bay, at the altitude of 52 metres a.b.s., above the former artillery laboratory. This circular fort of "Pula tower" type, with the internal courtyard and front drum court, was built in the period between 1852 and 1854. The fort is specific for its internal staircase which, unlike the typical construction, is located into a small tower within wall. The other forts of that type had separate staircases in the courtyards. The artillery was located in casemates on the upper floor and in the attic part of the fort. The lower floor was used to accommodate the crew and to store ammunition. The Munide fort was equipped with 18 canons protecting the northern part of the entrance of the port of Pula. The fort was bombed in 1945 and then the walls of the drum court and of the entrance were torn down.
