The so-called "wet triangle", near Hörstel-Bergeshövede in the Tecklenburger Land region, refers to the waterway triangle where the Mittellandkanal (MLK) branches off from the Dortmund-Ems-Kanal (DEK) at km 108.35 and crosses the Teutoburg Forest. The ridge here shows a striking, natural incision (Gravenhorster gorge) between the Huckberg and Bergeshöveder Berg, which follows the MLK.

The Wet Triangle is an important hub for inland shipping.
