The oak was named after Arnold Hülsemann, who was a hunting lodge in Steininger Walddistrikt "Lehnwald" several decades ago. Their age is estimated at more than 300 years, also the tree is more than 20 meters high.

The tree-Methuselah was spared from being cut down by the purchase of Mr. Hülsemann at that time and after Arnold Hülsemann had died, his wife had a resting-bench built under the oak as a reminder and a wooden shoe nailed to the tree. In this shoe fir-trees were put from the Hülsermanns manor.

Today the bench with table is a bit off. The wooden shoe still exists and from the bench Susi and I were able to admire the magnificent oak. May she stand there in the forest for many hundreds of years

Pedunculate Oak - Quercus robur. Location approx. 1140 m north of Steiningen.

Height: approx. 20.0 m. Estimated age when placed under protection: 200 years.

The oak is named after the former hunting tenant of the Steiningen hunting ground, whose favorite place was under this oak. Because of his rural nature, the widow of the deceased symbolically had a wooden shoe with a bouquet of fir trees from his homeland, the Lower Rhine, attached.

Quercus robur, germinated about 1770; about 20 m high.

The natural monument "Hülsermann-Eiche" is located in the Steininger forest district "Lehnwald". Their age is estimated at more than 300 years. The magnificent tree is the last of what was once a large stand of oak trees that was completely felled. The oak is named after Arnold Hülsermann, who leased a hunting lodge in Steiningen several decades ago. He bought the oak to keep it from being cut down. It was the center of his hunting district and one of his favorite spots in the district. In the meantime, Huelermann, who lived on a farm on the Lower Rhine, has died. After his death in 1969, his wife had a wooden shoe nailed to the tree trunk out of affinity to the Eifel in connection with a ceremony during which a bench was set up by the oak tree. It was decorated with pine veins from Huelermann's estate. This shoe still adorns the beautiful oak tree today. The original bench is no longer under the tree, but a comfortable resting place has been set up in the immediate vicinity from which the tree Methusalem can be admired at leisure.
