St. Paul's Church is considered a prime example of neo-Gothic architecture. Not only is its position on a hill in Schwerin's old town outstanding, but so is its interior.
Since its consecration in 1869, it has survived stormy times almost unchanged. Stained glass windows, tracery, and a mighty Friese organ are not the only testimonies
to 19th-century church architecture. Visits only by appointment.

In delicate, filigree brick tracery, the tower and turrets of St. Paul's Church reach
into the sky. It was built in 1869 under the significant influence of the Mecklenburg "church prince" Theodor Kliefoth, who ensured that the so-called "Eisenach Regulations" were strictly adhered to during construction.

St. Paul's Church is considered a meticulously planned, exemplary example of a 19th-century neo-Gothic church, brimming with formal Protestant symbolism and references to salvation history, even down to its finest details. Kliefoth left his theological understanding of salvation history in this church building, particularly in the magnificent stained glass windows. Enthroned on its elevated position directly above the Rostock-Hamburg railway line, it posed enormous structural challenges at the time and was built from the foundation to the last tracery point using the most modern methods of the time.

The organ by Friedrich Friese III is also impressive. Experts say his organs were designed for Romantic compositions and have a powerful yet warm sound. The organ is still frequently played today at concerts and is an integral part of the church music tradition that has been cultivated in St. Paul's Church since its consecration. The church's wonderful acoustics make it a popular venue.
